So Long, Fair Well

Time sure does fly... I apologize to all our "huge" fans out there who have been wondering why we haven't posted in a while. If you DO follow our blog, today is your lucky day. With what little time off I have had, I don't have much time to post on here. August is a month of change for most people. It is usually  month you find that summer starts to wind down, kids go back to school, and we all get excited to see what Fall has to bring in September. For the "Texas" Weigands (as we've been known to call ourselves), August has brought about the completion of our home and Libby starting her new job teaching.

We had the opportunity this month to have some of our former youth join us for a few days at our house as we showed them around Dallas/Fort Worth area and some good times at local attractions. Needless to say, by the end of the week they had had so much fun and excitement that they were resenting going home because they knew that the fun was over and that they would have to start school soon. For most of them, it would be the start of college; a quite exciting yet scary time for most people. Hopefully they took to heart some of our words of wisdom and have started college off right. WE LOVE YOU GUYS!

Libby just starting back to work teaching at her new school earlier last week. Mostly has been a bunch of meetings and information so far along with setting up her classroom. It's always an adventure starting out somewhere new for a teacher. Meeting new people, learning new systems, and most importantly, learning what kind of kids you'll be working with and how to reach them in your teaching. I just pray I can support her as much as she has supported me in my new career. We had fun the other day making posters and setting up her classroom for a few hours. It is fun to see what your spouse does and where they work.

Speaking of where they work and what they do... Libby had the opportunity to fly with me on one of my actual flights this month up to Cleveland. When we landed we took a photo together in the cockpit. As you will see in the photo below, she's in the "bosses" seat... no implications there ;-).

Finally, to end this blog, our HOME IS COMPLETE!!! Grass and all! Well, guess that's not completely true since there is no appliances... BUT, everything is done. Below you will see an update of all the photos along with way.

Nephews and Beyond

As of June 28th, Libby and I are now Aunt and Uncle to THREE nephews! Welcome to the family Wynn! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to be there because of work, but Libby was thrilled to witness, along with many other family members, his first cry out of the womb. I was told it was quite a magical moment to hear him take in his first breath on this earth. It is truly amazing to watch God create in us life which can/will one day have the power, along with God's help, to create life again one day. Although I didn't get to see the beauty of our new nephew's birth, I did get the opportunity to see him a few days later in his home. After he was done eating, I was the first one to hold him. It is to my dismay that the liquids inside him took a fast track through his body. No sooner was I holding him for the first time, his diaper was unable to contain the fluids that were coming out of him. So where do fluids coming out of a diaper go??? Well, on to Uncle Chad of course! Lucky for him he is so darn cute that I couldn't be mad at him for using my shirt as a backup diaper.

On another note, the house is coming along great! We now have the exterior fully bricked (minus the a few bricks around the bay window) and the interior has been fully insulated along with sheet rock installed. Also, all the baseboards have been installed along with the interior doors. Just today Libby and I went out there and they were finishing installing our counter tops in the kitchen. They had also installed the tile in the kitchen, pantry, and bathrooms, along with installing the mirrors and bathroom hardware as well. Toilets are official in place along with all the cabinets both in the bathrooms and kitchen. I know I've said it before, but it is truly amazing how fast these guys can work. It won't be long before we will be living in it and have family and friends over to stay. I could talk more about what has changed since the last update, but the pictures (AND VIDEO!) speak for themselves. ADIOS!

Cold Stone Insulation

Those moments in life that just make you sit back, take a sip coffee (or whatever else you might drink), and just say in amazement "WOW!"... they are priceless. This month so far has been full of those moments. My dad had the opportunity to come and visit Libby and I this past Father's day weekend. All of us had a blast! My dad's favorite things to do is just be with family, so we made sure there were plenty of times of just us being able to sit around and talk, all the while having a good time seeing the vastness of great things to do in Fort Worth. If I had to guess, I think my dad's NEXT favorite thing to do is going to Rita's Italian Ice and getting a Wild Black Cherry Misto Shake.

He loves Rita's so much, we went there at least three of the four days he was here. Not exactly healthy for us, but I digress. Unfortunately for him, Rita's is not available anywhere close to where he lives in Mississippi. So, it is especially a treat for him to not only come out here and have Rita's, but to have it and spend time with us as well. We loved every minute we had with him when he was here.

Just last Tuesday, Libby and I did the "pre sheetrock orientation" with our builder of our house. It was nice to be able to address a few concerns and also get some clarification on some of the items done to the house. Since that meeting, our house has been insulated and is pretty much ready for sheetrock to go up. Libby and I also had the opportunity on Friday to see them start the work on putting our stone and brick up! I have pictures below to show different progress points throughout this month. Last night Libby and I were out there and got to see a sample of what the outside will look like once completed. While we were out there, we had a couple of our neighbors come and introduce themselves to us. Thus far we like all of the neighbors we've met and our thankful to have such nice neighbors.

In other exciting news, I had the opportunity to FINALLY fly as a pilot for an airline this past Saturday and Sunday... I life long dream! Flew from Chicago to Cleveland, Cleveland to Portland, ME on Saturday. On Sunday flew from Portland to Chicago, Chicago to Fargo, Fargo back to Chicago, then got to fly home back to Libby. It is truly an amazing career and am blessed to have such a supportive wife to encourage me along the way.
